Coach Louis Schoeman
He is a Level 2 certified CrossFit Coach and he has been coaching for 6 years. Louis' coaching experience at various boxes has allowed him to harness his passion for engaging with a diverse group of people while doing what he loves - coaching and motivating people to live a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Louis enjoys keeping the CrossFit standard high and professional. When coaching he has a fun and entertaining way of sharing his CrossFit knowledge and coaching a class.
Louis himself has competed in a few CrossFit competitions including the Last Man Standing, The Battle, Pretoria Throwdown, Nelsparta, and United We Stand, where he and his teammates reached finals on numerous occasions.
For that reason, Louis is able to understand all levels of CrossFit fitness, from Beginner to Elite.
''I have two Diplomas that I obtained in 2 years. One in Personal Training and one in Sports Conditioning Science, both working with beginner to advanced individuals. Recently, I also obtained a certificate in sports massage.
I competed twice in Bodybuilding competitions of which I placed 1st in my 1st competition and 3rd in the other.
Thereafter I served 1 year in the military where I was awarded the fittest soldier.
Upon my return, I jumped on the obstacle-course-race bandwagon, where I ended up placing 2nd in my age group in South Africa.
I always had a passion for CrossFit but never really had the time to try it out. When I started training at CrossFit Uhuru in September 2020, well, it was love at 1st WOD! 😆
With my extensive understanding of biomechanics, recovery, and injury prevention I feel joining this amazing CrossFit Uhuru team, we could help all members better their performance and reach their fitness goals.''
Coach Antoinette Duvenhage
Antoinette started her journey in 2013 and joined Crossfit Uhuru in 2018.
In 2016 and 2017 she wandered into a bodybuilding format of training but her love for Crossfit prevailed and brought her to her current home - Crossfit Uhuru.
She competed in the Crossfit Open in 2015 and 2019 and the Last Man Standing team event in 2019.
Antoinette is a firm believer that Crossfit is the best combination of training styles aimed at daily functionality. Crossfit provides a supportive community where you get to push your limits, but it is scaled to every individual.
We are excited to have Antoinette join the coaching staff at Crossfit Uhuru as an assistant coach focusing on ladies’ classes/Crossfit lite. Crossfit gave her the opportunity to build confidence and she believes that this community is an ideal space for women to feel empowered in their bodies.
This is a perfect platform for any person that is either starting their fitness journey or looking for a community of fitness where friends become family.
Coach Pieter Swart
He has always been passionate about sport. Not specifically in any single discipline; sport in the broad spectrum.
Pieter played most school sports and he also has a background in gymnastic where he learned bar movements, handstands and flips.
He is passionate about running, lifting weights and being able to move his body as a result of a healthy lifestyle.
He says that CrossFit is the perfect combination of multiple movements and functionality to keep him motivated and encouraged to keep improving himself constantly.
He is also a full-time Youth Pastor. This is where his passion for people developed exponentially over the last couple of years. Youth Ministry taught him that no matter where you are in your life, including your physical abilities, there is always hope that you will improve when you put the time and work into it.
He believes this to be true for all athletes with various backgrounds and different skills. No one is unable to improve in their fitness, mindset and overall health.
